This Weekend was Different

This weekend was sure different. I didn't have to workout out at all. Instead I basically did whatever I wanted. Woohoo. What did I do with my time... I sewed up from pattern a pair of pajama shorts for my boy. I was pretty impressed with the job I did. They turned out awesome and fit too.

I'm doing another pair for him but haven't gotten around to it. This is my warmup to doing my suit. I may do a curtain for my bathroom too before I tackle the sewing on my competition suit.

I went to JoAnn's with my MIL. That was fun. I love that store. I got some thread, material, suit hooks, yard stick... Need that for measuring stuff. Loads of fun just looking at the different types of material and crafts.

Sunday, the family went golfing. We love golfing but don't get to do it to much together as a family. I tell ya... my six year did just as good as me! Of course, I haven't golfed in 4 months. It was just nice to be together doing something outside.

I took some progress pics. For offseason, they're not bad. Here's a model pose one. I'm about 15 pounds over competition weight. I really don't want to gain anymore but don't want to limit my muscle building phase either. It's a double edge sword. To be quite honest, I'm about where I'm going to stay offseason. I'm at the point where I'm starting to put on some fat in the tummy and butt area. Yuck.
Well, that's about a wrap today. Don't have much planned this week. Folding laundry and cleaning house some this week since I'm off to the Kentucky Muscle this weekend with friends. I'm so excited to see my friend Valerie Haines compete at the pro level this weekend. My fingers are crossed that she gets top 3 so she'll qualify for the Olympia.
Take care.

2009 Offseason

Man... It's been a while since I've been here. I'm so all about reading about everyone else that I don't do well with my own blogs. I'd really like to blog more. I need to make that a goal.

I'm enjoying my offseason. I'm very much still involved in my own gameplan for competing but my diet and workout schedule is so much more relaxed. This is what I've got going on right now...

Cardio... 5 days a week 30 minutes fasted in the mornings. Sometimes I run. Sometimes I walk. It varies according to what I want to do. My plan is not to burn up too many calories though. I AM TRYING TO GAIN SOME MUSCLE MASS.

Weights... I'm lifting 4 days a week. My BFF Corinne and I are doing somewhat of a DC Training type scheme. It's heavy, fast and hard. Yesterday we did quads, biceps and back width. My quads are screaming today. I'm so excited because I normally tax my glutes and I don't need work in that area. I need it in my quads especially my lower quads. Today I'm doing shoulders and calves a second time this week. My goal is to work shoulders, back and calves twice a week.

Food... I'm eating around 1800-1900 calories. My current weight is 123.5 which I'm happy with. I'd like to gain another pound or two over the next month but that't it. I like to compete around 108 this year so being 15-18 pounds over that is enough. I should be able to put on some muscle mass with this extra weight. I'm eating a split of protein, carbs and fat. Probably around a 40/30/30 split. My body likes this nutrient split. I don't crave on this plan at all usually unless its TOM. I'm a little lax on the weekends. I usually sleep in so I normally don't get in as many meals. I usually take a cheat meal on Saturday night with my boys. Sunday's... I probably don't eat enough food. Things just get in the way.

Projects and things... I'm working on doing my own suit next year. I've got the material, lining, and pattern. I've cut out the top already. This weekend I'm headed to JoAnns to get thread and elastic. I'm excited about doing this on my own. This year, everything I'm pretty much doing on my own. Exciting yet scary. LOL.

My son finished up his baseball season and now we're focusing on relaxing and the upcoming holidays. My husband finished up his Thursday night golf games too since it's getting dark so early. With the weather changing, it's time to hibernate. Not really but you know what I mean.

My son wants a Texiera and A-Rod Yankees shirt and I'm having a hard time finding one. I'll need to keep on that project and find one. They have adults or larger youths but none that fit him. It's time to make those Christmas lists and start gathering stuff.

Alot going on all the time. But you put your head down and keep plugging on. Well this is it for today. Hopefully it won't be months upon months before I return. :-)

Introducing myself...

Well I've decided to blog about my world and thoughts just because. A place where I can ramble. LOL.

My name is Lisa. I'm soon to be 40 in a couple of weeks. I've been married for 10 years although we've been together 15 years. We have a wonderful 5 year old boy that is the center of our world. We love him so much.

In my free time or my allotted time for me... I enjoy working out. Last year I started competing in figure bodybuilding competitions and love it. This year I'm doing a build season since you can lose a lot of muscle leaning down for these things. Last year, I would have said, I'm big enough. After competing and getting my body fat down so much, I'm not big enough. I decided to do a complete build season (4 months) of building and gaining. Right now I'm up 10 pounds from my regular weight and 15 lbs from competition weight. I'm handling it pretty good most days. More to come on this subject.

My darling hubby... He is an avid golfer. Loves it. That's his sport. He could play it everyday all day. He's very strong-willed and very supportive of my goals. He's a very loving yet strict father. I couldn't ask for a better husband and father.

My darling son... Well, he's five and he likes to play. He is involved in TaeKwonDo and is an advanced yellow belt. He's like video games and just recently got a Nintendo DS. We are teaching him to shut it off before he gets upset. He's doing very well with that.

Well, this is it for now. I'll return tomorrow for more thoughts.
